Carbonized Reed Hanging Panel Screen | Dark Room Divider
Carbonized reed hangs darker than natural reed, and that single change does more to a room than most buyers expect. Heat treatment drives the colour through the stem instead of laying it on the surface, so the panel reads closer to dark oak than to a straw mat, and the tone stays put in humid air. We weave these on the frames we have run since 2014 and finish each top edge on a solid wood batten, so the panel hangs flat and stays flat.
Product Description

Carbonized Reed Reads as Furniture, Not as a Blind
- Carbonized reed, bound rather than framed: thin reed stems laid in dense parallel rows and tied with dark cotton thread at even intervals, so the panel keeps its shape with no frame across the face.
- Deep brown through the full thickness: the colour comes from heat treatment rather than dye, so a scuffed stem still reads brown and the tone matches from panel to panel.
- Ceiling-mounted on a solid wood batten: the reeds are folded over the batten and stitched to it, which keeps the top edge rigid under its own weight. Steel cords and eye hooks carry the load.
- Semi-translucent weave: daylight lands as soft horizontal stripes, which is what makes a dark panel usable in a room lit from one side. It cuts glare without turning the space black.
- Cut to your width and drop: made to order rather than trimmed down from stock, so the binding lines stay evenly spaced across the full width.
- Fixed screen or lifting panel: hang it as a permanent divider, or fit a pull cord and wooden handle so it rolls up when the room needs to open.
- Holds up in humid air: carbonized reed resists mould and insect damage better than untreated reed, which matters for coastal projects and for hotels that close seasonally.

About Our Company

Craftsmanship & Community Impact
Our weavers — many of them women from the villages around our workshop — bring years of practice to every handwoven piece. The woven structure is sturdy and built for long-term use and wholesale distribution. The natural texture adds a warm, rustic touch to any space, suitable for home storage, hotel organization, retail displays, or homestay decoration. Unlike mass-produced goods, our handwoven items show unique details that reflect the maker’s hand, and the work stays in the weaving workshops around our own factory.

Our Manufacturing & Export Strengths
We are a manufacturer, not a trading office — weaving, finishing and packing all happen in our own 4,000 m² workshop. Twelve years of export work means the paperwork is routine: carton markings, barcodes, material composition and country of origin are prepared the way your market requires. Samples go out in about a week; bulk production runs 30–45 days.

Quality Control & Documentation

Testing and Documentation
At WovenNatural, we arrange inspection and laboratory testing to whatever standard each buyer requires. Heavy metals screening and formaldehyde screening are the two tests most often asked for on natural-fibre home goods; both have been run on our products and the reports are on file. Ask us for the latest copy. Test scope and limits follow your destination market.
